While travelling by air, people usually have limited options to eat and drink. The only option to have hot and fresh food on an aeroplane is relying on what the airline is serving. But have you ever checked the ingredients and their nutrient value on the label before purchasing? Well, recently, an influencer, Revant Himatsingka, did, and what he found is extremely shocking.

Revant Himatsingka, also known by his username “foodpharmer”, is known for reviewing food and its nutritional values. While travelling by IndiGo, the influencer went through the ingredients of the packages and posted a video on Twitter (X) confirming that the packed food served by the airline has even more sodium content than Maggi, the famous instant noodles.

What’s Up With IndiGo’s Packaged Food?

One of the most common chronic illnesses that the majority of the Indian population suffers from is hypertension and heart-related issues. As per a study published in the journal Pediatric Nephrology in 2020, eating too much salt or sodium increases the risk of hypertension, high blood pressure, kidney diseases, weaker immune systems, and much more.

You might already be aware of the high sodium content in instant noodles. That is a major reason why packaged or processed food is considered to be unhealthy. However, the recently posted video by the famous influencer Revant Himatsingka raised questions about the nutrient value of food served by the famous airline IndiGo.

While the traditional food options like upma, poha, and dal chawal sound healthy, the ready-to-eat packed boxes served by IndiGo have even more sodium than a pack of Maggi. As per the label, a packet of Maggi has 720 mg of sodium. The upma served by IndiGo, however, has 1094 mg of sodium. And that’s not all. The influencer has further stated that IndiGo’s poha mix has a shocking 1322 mg of sodium, and their box of dal chawal has 728 mg of sodium, which is almost equal to that of Maggi.

But then, the question arises: what should a person eat while on a flight? Revant Himatsingka has also answered that. The first and the best option to eat while travelling via airways is to carry some homemade food. But in case it is a long flight and you want to munch on something, IndiGo’s nut case or almond box can be your safest option.
