Imtiaz Ali has managed to stun the viewers with the magic he creates on screen through these years. While one may know the writer-director for some of his films, it is only a few ardent fans who are aware of the foodie side to his personality. Imtiaz loves trying out new cuisines, especially while he’s travelling.
In fact, he is such an experimental foodie that he reportedly once made Shah Rukh Khan try a snail. This time, the director-producer was in Delhi for some work and turns out, he actually took out some time to try Dilli ka khana too. Famous for its street fare, the Tamasha director was quick to stop by a food stall at the corner of a street and order a plate of Kulche Chane for himself.
He took to his Instagram stories to share a glimpse of his indulgence. The first picture was that of the food stall, where one of the cooks was busy making chana while the other one was tossing kulchas on a hot iron griddle. On this he wrote, “Thank god for Delhi street food”. Next, he showed us a picture of a plate of kulchas and chana, carefully placed on a newspaper and served with a side of pickle, onion rings and green chilies.
He captioned this saying, “Kulche Chane in Delhi”. Looks like the director was quite taken by the desi flavours of the street food. However, this isn’t a one-off instance. Earlier, we had seen Imtiaz stop by a dhaba in Amritsar, called Pehlwan Kulcha Shop, and indulged in stuffed kulchas that the city is famous for. Moreover, he also wrote, “Why do shops that look like these serve the best food?”. This is enough proof of the fact that the director loves street food as much (or maybe even more) as any fancy outing at a fine dining restaurant.
