Can You Microwave Frozen Dumplings?

Yes, frozen dumplings can be microwaved. It only takes 3 minutes to prepare them in the microwave, and they taste just as good as those cooked on the stovetop. The cooking time is determined by the number of dumplings. When cooking up to 10 dumplings in the microwave, it usually takes about 3 minutes.

How To Microwave Frozen Dumplings?

1. Choose a microwave-safe bowl

When microwaving frozen dumplings, use a bowl rather than a plate. It must also have a large enough diameter to accommodate all of them. Microwaving a maximum of 10 dumplings at a time yields the best results.

2. Allow the Dumplings to partially thaw

If the dumplings are solidly frozen, set them out for 10 to 15 minutes before microwaving; otherwise, they will become mushy and difficult to pick up.

3. Add the Dumplings and water

You should add the dumplings first, followed by hot tap water. The dumplings should be half-submerged in water. You won't know how much water to use unless you add the dumplings first.

If you're using premade frozen dumplings, double-check the package instructions. Some of them may tell you to completely submerge the dumplings in water.

4. Put a lid on the bowl

Use a microwave-safe lid to cover the bowl. If your bowl does not come with a matching lid, you can substitute a microwave-safe plate.

5. 3 Minutes in the microwave

Cook the bowl in the microwave for three minutes on high. The dumplings should be done after three minutes. If they aren't done, microwave them for another minute or two until they are.

6. Remove the water

Remove the bowl from the microwave and use a colander to drain the water. If you're making regular dumplings, you can stop here and serve them with your favourite sauce, but if you want crispy dumplings, you'll need to go through some extra steps.

7. Oil a nonstick frying pan

Warm your nonstick pan over medium heat on the stove.

8. Get your Dumplings fried

When the pan is hot, add the dumplings and fry them in it. Arrange the dumplings so that they are not overlapping. Continue to shake and swirl the pan until the dumplings are crispy and golden brown. This should only take a minute. Allow the dumplings to sit for a few seconds after microwaving before frying. This allows some of the moisture from inside to evaporate, allowing you to fry them without splattering.
