Because whenever I cook basmati rice, it turns out to be a disaster for me; they remain undercooked or otherwise. I also make many mistakes while cooking basmati rice, due to which my rice often turns into a pudding. But I learned from my mistakes, and today I will give you some kitchen tips. I assure you that by following these tips, you can quickly cook perfect basmati rice at home.
- Measure the water: Use water in the right proportion while cooking basmati rice. When water is added without measuring it, the rice becomes sticky. Therefore, whether you are making basmati rice in a cooker or any other vessel, it is essential to have the right proportion of water. For example, if you are making one cup of basmati rice, not more than two to three cups of water should be used. On the other hand, if you're preparing them in a cooker, one and a half times water should be taken according to the rice.
- Use lemon and coconut oil: Using lemon, and coconut oil can also improve while making basmati rice. When you put rice and water in the pot, cook by adding one spoon of coconut oil and one to two spoons of lemon juice. If you are using a cooker, after adding these ingredients, turn off the gas and let the steam come out of the cooker automatically after a whistle. This makes the rice whiter and flavoursome.
- Soak in water: If you will make basmati rice for lunch or dinner, soak them in water for 15-20 minutes. After 20 minutes, while putting rice in the cooker, add two cups of water and, after one whistle, turn off the gas. If you are cooking in any other vessel, you should cook open.
- Filter the excess water: Even after taking care of everything, sometimes the rice looks moist. If that happens, spread the rice on a big plate. For this, filter the rice well and lay it in the vessel. While making basmati rice, one spoon of ghee or butter can also be used.
