After creating ripples with Pop Thai, the Thai delivery Kitchen, oriental food lovers of Delhi have another reason to rejoice. Pop Chi, is a Vasant Kunj-based delivery kitchen from the same family, and the quality is proof. Pop Chi attempts to recreate the bustling street food scene of China, and succeeds at that, if you think of it as an earnest tribute. Instead of focusing on being ‘authentic’, Pop Chi is looking at a hearty and wholesome celebration of China’s streets, especially the food you find in Hong Kong in all its variations and versatility. So, choose from a wide range of veg options, chicken, lamb, fish and pork, you are in for a treat.

We started with the Sushi, both Tokyo Chicken Katsu and Chi Special Bang Bang Prawn sushi are ideal for those who love the additional crispiness in their Sushi. There’s a lot of umami flavour and textures rolled up in one bite, both are highly recommended. Moving on to the starters, chicken lovers, can place their bets on the Sichaun Pepper chicken, it is hot, it is chunky, chewy and just so wholesome. We love how thinner strips of chicken are used to make this appetiser, and chicken is allowed to be the lead. The spices do not overpower, they accentuate. If you want something sweet and crispy and veg, then you wouldn’t be disappointed by Crispy lotus in sweet chilli . Moving on to the dumlings, we really liked the Vietnamese Rice Paper Roll Chicken. These square-shaped dumplings come with the thinnest casing and such mildly spiced minced chicken that you cannot not appreciate the coming together of the flavours, juices and the textures. The chicken and chive dumplings are also a safe option, but nothing remarkable to talk home about.

You have an option to customise your noodles and rice in terms of sauces and toppings. The wok-fried specialities that won us over were the Udon noodles with black bean sauce, topped with peanuts and sesame seeds. Chinatown’s burnt Garlic Fried rice is also worth a try, if you love all that drama on your plate.
