Come summer, and we are busy loading our fridge with sweet and fresh mangoes. The Mango season is short-lived, but thankfully, there are so many cultivars of mangoes to keep us hooked through the summer, that we do not have much to complain about. Mango, also often dubbed as the ‘king of fruits’ is consumed in both raw and ripe forms. Ripe mangoes have a sweet yellow pulp and seed. The sweet and nectarous pulp can be eaten as is or chopped up and used in various salads, smoothies and even curries. The tropical fruit is very versatile you see.

Now there is much debate whether mangoes are in fact diet-friendly? Mangoes are a treasure trove of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that make them one of the healthiest summer fruits out there. They reduce oxidative stress and combat free radical damage that may take toll on our immunity and general well-being. It is also known to aid digestion and the fibre present in the fruit also helps regulate your bowel movement. Good digestion is very closely linked to good weight management. Besides, fibres also break down slowly, making you feel full for longer and preventing you from bingeing. The truckload of vitamins present in the fruit can do wonders for your skin and hair too, so remind us again, why should you be wary of the fruit?
