The most well-known beverages prepared with this lovely plant are elderflower syrup (cordial) and elderflower champagne, so if elder trees grow close to your home, you are probably already familiar with these. What about elderflower tea, though? Ever given it a shot? It is a flavorful, delicate, herbal beverage that is calming and nutritious. You only need a few flowers, some water, and lemon juice. In the off-season, dried flowers can be used to prepare the beverage.

Benefits of elderflower

  1. They have been utilised in conventional medicine for ages all across the world.
  2. Flowers are beneficial if you already have sinusitis, the flu, or bronchitis since they have antibacterial and antiviral characteristics. Some allergies may be relieved by these qualities as well.
  3. Additionally, they are said to be beneficial for other respiratory conditions, useful for preventing diabetes (since they lower blood sugar levels), and constipation (diuretic, laxative properties).

Ingredients

  1. A handful of flowers, about one or two large ones per cup.
  2. Water
  3. Lemon
  4. Sweetener

Method

  1. To get rid of any dirt or tiny insects that could be clinging to the flowers, shake them over the sink. They won't retain much of their flavour if you wash them, so don't do it.
  2. The stems, leaves, and twigs must all be removed because they can lead to a toxic buildup of cyanide in the body. The tiniest flower-holding stem attachments are acceptable.
  3. Put the petals in a teapot or a small pot.
  4. Pour water that has been boiled in a kettle into the pot.
  5. Steep for ten to fifteen minutes.
  6. Pour mugs of elderflower tea.
  7. To taste, mix in honey and lemon juice.
  8. Stir well, then indulge.
