Among dessert spreads, Nutella is incredibly popular. In fact, the website for Nutella states that the amount of jars made in a single year could circle the globe 1.8 times. This delicious treat has appeared on restaurant menus all over the world and is a mainstay in many homes, as evidenced by the Nutella-inspired drinks and ice cream. Although Nutella is unquestionably delectable, many individuals believe that it is healthful because it contains hazelnuts. Some even use Nutella as a substitute for nut butters.

What Is Nutella

The third-largest manufacturer of chocolate in the world, Ferrero is an Italian company that creates Nutella, a sweetened hazelnut cocoa spread. When there was a shortage of cocoa in the nation due to World War II, baker Pietro Ferrero added ground hazelnuts to a chocolate spread in Italy. Today, Nutella is consumed by people all around the world, and its popularity is rising. This chocolate and hazelnut spread is frequently used as a topping for waffles, pancakes, and breakfast toast. Nutella is now categorised as a dessert topping, but Ferrero has been working to reclassify the spread as a breakfast topping, much like jam.

Make your own chocolate hazelnut spread at home—you won't believe how simple it is! A blender or food processor and only 7 ingredients are required.

Ingredients:

8 oz. Hazelnuts

1 cup of sugar, powder

1/3 cup of bittersweet cocoa powder

2 tbsp of coconut or canola oil;

1 tsp Vanilla extract,

1 tsp Salt,

Chop up ¼ cup of chocolate or use semi-sweet chocolate chips. Optional

Method:

Set the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Use silicone baking mat or parchment paper to line a baking sheet. Hazelnuts should be placed on the baking sheet. 12 to 15 minutes should be spent roasting. If they are not browning too quickly after the first ten minutes, keep an eye on them.

Transfer to a fresh kitchen towel after removing from the oven. Allow to cool until it is safe to touch. When the nuts are cooled, gently wipe them with the towel to remove the skin. Put the nuts in the food processor and pulse until they are powdered. As necessary, scrape the bowl of the food processor. Nuts should be processed until they begin to liquefy. It may take up to five minutes. To clean the bowl's sides, pause the food processor as necessary. Cocoa and powdered sugar are added. Mix thoroughly until combined. Add the vanilla and oil while the food processor is running. Process until uniform. For 5 seconds, process the salt after adding it. At this stage, add chocolate chips and continue processing until everything is combined. If the mixture clumps, more oil may be required.

Into a tidy jar, scrape the spread. For up to one month, keep in the refrigerator. If using coconut oil, you might need to soften the spread by letting it rest on the counter.
