Since Indian summers have been predicted to hit a high this year, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) shared a list of precautionary measures in order to pull through the scorching temperatures. Among some of the suggestions made by the Ministry of Health, they highlighted the importance of being conscious about food-related choices. Stressing on avoiding protein and not eat stale food, since digestion protein requires plenty of hydration, the directives also suggested not cooking during peak summer hours as burning gas or any source of heat can increase room temperatures.

They also mentioned keeping doors and windows open to ventilate the cooking area, as the smoke, odour and steam produced from cooking could result in skin irritation or even respiratory issues. Another said that avoiding the consumption of alcohol, tea, coffee and carbonated soft drinks can help in not losing bodily fluids due to the heat and humidity.
