Hansal Mehta, the beloved Bollywood film director and producer, is back in the headlines with not just one but two great reasons. Celebrating the success of his recently launched movie, “The Buckingham Murders,” Hansal Mehta also announced his interest in launching a food-based OTT platform and YouTube channel.

Known for “directing classic movies like “Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar!!”,” Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai?” and Woodstock Villa,” the celebrated director, started his career by directing the rather popular cooking show “Khana Kazana.” The show not only reached millions of households but also gave celebrity Chef Sanjeev Kapoor an unforgettable television launch.

Getting back to his roots, as per reports, Hansal Mehta is now planning to bridge the gap between OTT platforms and food. After looking at the trends after COVID hit, the number of people signing up for OTT platforms has spiked exponentially. While you can find most of the movies and TV shows on an OTT platform, there is an existing gap when it comes to food and cooking shows.

Reportedly, Hansal Mehta said in an interview, “I’m not a fan of cooking reality shows and contests like ‘MasterChef’. I don’t enjoy them at all. I always say cooking is a meditation, not a competition”. To bridge the gap and give people quality recipes, Hansal Mehta expressed his intention of starting a YouTube channel and, ultimately, an OTT platform.

His love for food is quite evidently observed by the foodie fans. Be it Hansal Mehta talking about his Gujarati roots and sharing his all-time favourite delicacies like khichdi prepared by Chef Ranveer Brar, who also stars in his latest movie, “The Buckingham Murders.” Considering Hansal Mehta’s connection with food, Netizens can’t wait for his YouTube channel and OTT platform.
