Halloween 2021 is just around the corner, and trust me this year, we've got no tricks up our sleeves, just treats for you all. If you ask about the festival in India, a lot many people will tell you how it’s about theme parties where everyone dresses up scary and creepy. And while it may be so to some extent, it's also the time of celebration, a time to honour all saints and martyrs, making it a spooktacular holiday. It was initially referred to as Hallows' Eve, and it falls on the night of 31st October every year, which is the eve of All Saints' Day (November 1st).

Wonder how did it all start? Halloween is said to have been originated in the Celts, in United Kingdom. The Celts, who lived 2,000 years ago, celebrated their new year on November 1, the day which marked the end of summer and the harvest and the beginning of the dark, cold winter. This time of the year was often associated with human death. Celts believed that on the night before the new year, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred. On the night of October 31, they celebrated Samhain, when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth. The tradition was adapted by Christian soon and was celebrated by people by lighting bonfires and donning their scariest outfits to ward off roaming ghosts and spirits.
