However, recognising the evolving landscape of GIFT City as a thriving global financial and technological hub, the state government has decided to modify these restrictions to cater to the needs of the international community.
According to an official statement released on Friday evening, the relaxation in liquor laws aims to cultivate a "global business ecosystem" within GIFT City. This strategic move is expected to benefit not only the employees and officials based in GIFT City but also extend to visitors and stakeholders involved in various economic activities within the area.
The prohibition department of the state highlighted GIFT City's prominence as a hub bustling with economic activities, making it imperative to adapt to the changing requirements of a global audience. The statement clarified that under the new policy, hotels, restaurants, and clubs within the GIFT City area will be eligible for permits to offer "wine and dine" facilities.
While patrons will be allowed to consume liquor within these facilities, the sale of liquor bottles will not be permitted. Liquor access permits will be granted to owners and employees of companies operating in GIFT City, and temporary permits will be extended to their visitors.
