Here, we will provide five simple methods that will help you become a tofu cooking pro in your own home.  

Grill the Tofu 

Quickly achieve a charred exterior and a soft interior by grilling your tofu. 

Method: To drain excess moisture from extra-firm tofu, sandwich it between paper towels and weight it down with something heavy like a cast-iron pan. Grill the tofu over medium heat (around 350–400 degrees) after you've cleaned and greased the grates. Tofu can be grilled after being cut into 1/2-inch slabs, marinated, or just brushed with olive oil and salt. Grill the tofu for two to three minutes, or until it releases easily, and then grill the other side for the same amount of time. Browning on both sides is a must. Take the grilled tofu off the heat and serve.

Cook Tofu in the Oven 

Tofu can be cooked quickly and without much hassle in the oven. While the oven is preheating, press the tofu so it's ready to roast.  

Method: Set the oven temperature to 400 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Put a block of extra-firm tofu between paper towels and weight it down with something like a cast-iron pan to get rid of excess moisture. Applying force for around 30 minutes should help get it done.  You can use a marinade or just olive oil and salt to season the tofu before slicing it into 1/2-inch slabs and arranging them in a single layer on a baking pan. Cook for 25 minutes at 400 degrees or until browned. Take the tofu out of the oven, and then serve it. 

Cook Tofu on the Stove 

If you want a golden crust on your tofu, cooking it on the stove is the way to go. To ensure the tofu cooks quickly and uniformly, make sure there is enough of room in the pan. 

Method: Remove the extra water from the tofu block. Over medium heat, warm a skillet with a few teaspoons of neutral cooking oil. Marinate the tofu, or just coat it with olive oil and salt, then slice it into half-inch slabs. Add the tofu to the skillet, one layer at a time, making sure to leave some space between each piece. (Cook in batches if necessary.) Brown the tofu on each side by cooking for two to three minutes. Take the tofu out of the pan and serve.  

Cook Tofu in an Instant Pot 

Because of its short cooking time and delicate texture, tofu isn't the best choice for the Instant Pot, which excels at making robust braises. However, if you're determined on using an Instant Pot, you may simply do it by utilising the 'Sauté' option.  

Method: To drain excess moisture from extra-firm tofu, place a block in between kitchen towels and top with a heavy item, such a cast-iron pan.  Marinate the tofu, or just coat it with olive oil and salt, then slice it into half-inch slabs. Put the Instant Pot on the 'Sauté' setting and turn the heat on high. A few tablespoons of flavourless cooking oil should be added after the pan is hot.  Place the tofu in an even layer in the Instant Pot. Brown the tofu on each side by cooking for two to three minutes. Take the tofu out of the pressure cooker. 

Cook Tofu in an Air Fryer 

Tofu can be air-fried for maximum crispiness in about 15 minutes. You may enjoy the delicious flavour of fried tofu without having to worry about any oil spills or stains. 

Method: The extra-firm tofu can be pressed for even more moisture removal by placing it between two kitchen towels and setting a heavy object on top of it, such a cast-iron pan. To ensure a non-stick cooking experience, it is recommended to apply a light coating of oil onto the air fryer basket. Begin by cutting the tofu into ½ inch-thick slices. Proceed to coat the slices with a flavorful marinade or simply brush them with a drizzle of high-quality olive oil and a sprinkle of salt. Gently place the tofu into the air fryer basket, ensuring that it is arranged in a uniform layer for optimal cooking results. If necessary, cook the pieces in separate batches to ensure optimal results. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F and air-fry the tofu for 10-15 minutes until it achieves a golden-brown, crispy texture. For optimal results, it is recommended to flip the tofu halfway through the cooking process to achieve uniform texture and flavour. Once the tofu has been air-fried to perfection, it is ready to be served.
