Patty is an alternative name to Burger. The term patty originated in the 17th century as an English alteration of the French word, pate, which is related to pasty. They are not American but German. Nagreen, also referred to as ‘Hamburger Charlie’, is credited with creating the hamburger in 1885, Germany, by squeezing a beef meatball between two slices of bread so that his partners could eat it while walking around. Ingredients
For Chicken Tikki
- 500 gm Chicken, dry and minced
- ½ tsp Black pepper, freshly crushed
- ½ tsp Ginger-Garlic powder
- 1 tsp Red Chilli Flakes
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tbsp Barbecue Sauce
- 1 tbsp Tomato Ketchup
- ½ tbsp Mustard Sauce
- ½ cup Cheese (any type)
- ½ cup Bread Crumbs
For Mayo Sauce
- 1 cup Cabbage
- ½ cup Mayonnaise
- Salt, as per taste
- ½ tsp black pepper powder
For Assembling
- 4 Burger Buns
- 1 Onion, sliced into rings
- 1 tablespoon Butter/Ghee/Oil – To Grease
Method
- Take a large bowl, and add minced chicken. Make sure the chicken does not contain any moisture. It should be completely dry
- Combine all the spices black pepper, ginger-garlic powder, chilli flakes and salt
- Also add the different sauces – barbecue, mustard and tomato ketchup
- Further, add cheese and bread crumbs. Mix thoroughly with fingers. Let it rest for 20-30 minutes
- Meanwhile, prepare the seasoning sauce – In a large bowl with sliced cabbage, add salt and black pepper. Mix well using a spoon. Add the mayonnaise and combine well. Keep aside
- Now, divide the marinated meat into equal portions and form a tikki or patty. Grease it well on both sides with oil/butter/ghee
- Make more patties from the rest of the mixture
- In a grill pan or saucepan, place the patties. Turn it to cook on the other side as well. Remove
- Now, grease the buns with butter and grill them as well.
- Spread the Mayo sauce evenly well in a generous amount over all the bun.
- Now, place the patties over the mayo sauce, followed by the onion rings.
- Add ketchup and place another bun on top.
- Serve hot and crisp with your favourite dip!
