World Idli Day 2022: Whenever I feel like eating something light, the first thing that comes to mind is the idli. Whether eaten with sambar or chutney, it tastes delicious and is certainly a dish for all. You, too, must have eaten this simple yet delicious dish, a breakfast staple in South India. But today’s a special occasion. It’s ‘World Idli Day’. So, we will give you a healthy and tasty idli recipe made using green peas. You can enjoy this idli as a snack and even pack this for your kid’s lunch.
Ingredients:
- Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
- Green peas - 1 cup
- Salt - as per taste
- Green chillies - 3-4
- Urad dal - 1-2 tsp
- Curry leaves - 5-8
- Semolina - 1 cup
- Ginger - 1 inch
- Curd - 1 cup
- Oil - 1 tbsp
Method:
- Mix curd in semolina, prepare a paste and keep the batter covered for a while.
- Peel the peas, separate the grains and wash them well.
- Grind onion, green chillies and ginger in a mixer. If possible, prepare a fine paste without adding water to it.
- Add green peas to the mixer and make a fine paste.
- Put a pan in the gas and add oil.
- Add urad dal, curry leaves and mustard seeds when the oil becomes slightly hot.
- Check the semolina batter after 10 minutes, add the tempering prepared with salt, and mix it well again. If required, add some water or curd to it.
- Add green peas, onion, and ginger paste to the prepared batter and mix well.
- Grease the idli mould with oil or ghee and pour the batter into the greased mould. Place the mould in a preheated idli stand and cook for 10-12 minutes.
- After about 15 minutes, put a clean knife into the idli and if it comes out the same, take it out from the mould.
- Take out all the idlis and serve with green chutney or coconut chutney.
