We have seen several Guinness World Records being made on food and beverage. Be it a man eating the hottest chillies, a group of people enjoying a cup of tea at Mount Everest Camp 2 or someone making the biggest cake pop, we have witnessed it all. Each time there is a different level of competition altogether. In a bid to enter the Guinness World Records, people participate under numerous categories and break some of the most bizarre records. For instance, growing the greatest number of tomatoes on one stem. While there is no end to such records, the latest one is sure to amaze you as it involves the largest fruit display.
The world’s largest fruit display was set up outside a store in the tranquil suburb of Westmont in Illinois, the US on June 8, 2022. And simply in an attempt to set a Guinness World Record, more than 70,000 pounds (about 31,751 kg) of bananas were stacked in this enormous showcase.
Fresh Del Monte, the fruit supplier along with retail operator Jewel-Osco, collaborated for the massive display. They created a big banana stand, named Banana Bonanza, outside a Jewel-Osco store in Westmont, and their effort finally paid off when a Guinness representative declared it the ‘world’s largest fruit display’. The Westmont Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau took to their official Facebook page to share photos of the fruit display, and declared the world record they just made.
The fruit display took them three days to make. “The bananas were distributed to the crowd present, and the balance is being donated to the food bank for distribution throughout the region,” they stated. Take a look at the full post here:

This isn’t the first time such a record has been set. In 2016, Confederacao de Agricultura e Pecuaria do Brasil held the previous Guinness World Record when it displayed 41,459.78 pounds (18,805 kg) of fruit in one location in Brazil. This record saw a variety of 19 different fruits, which were then distributed at the end of the event.
