All the women out there would agree with me about how frustrating it is to deal with menstrual discomfort, followed by digestive issues. But what about if one day you come across an easy way out to deal with these problems? Well, let me tell you that the solution lies in your kitchen itself. Reportedly, ginger and cinnamon are considered two remedies that can fight these problems. Not only do these spices add flavour to your dishes, but they also provide you with ample health benefits, such as smothering periods and a healthy gut.

Recently, nutritionist and author Dr. Rohini Patil took to Instagram to show her followers and friends how ginger and cinnamon help during periods and keep the gut healthy. She explained in the caption, "Craving something spicy and still wanting to stay healthy? Try adding ginger and cinnamon to your daily diet! Not only do they help cleanse and heal your gut, but they can also help keep your blood sugar levels in check and promote a natural flow during your period."

Thus, we will talk about the benefits of consuming these spices:

Ginger: A Period Pain Reliever

For ages, ginger has been considered one of the spices with inhibitory medicinal properties. When it comes to providing relief from period pain, ginger acts as a natural solution. According to a study published in the 'Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine,' ginger can be as effective as ibuprofen in relieving menstrual pain. Besides, it also states that the anti-inflammatory and muscle-relaxing properties of ginger contribute to pain relief.

Ginger contains a compound called gingerols, which have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. These properties can help reduce inflammation and muscle contraction in the uterus, thus reducing period pain.

Cinnamon: A Gut Cleanser

If you have been struggling with gut problems or just want to cleanse your gut, then cinnamon comes to the rescue. The research published in the journal ‘Diabetes Care', suggests that cinnamon may improve insulin sensitivity and lower the blood sugar level. Although the study only suggests blood sugar, cinnamon is efficient in managing overall diabetes health.

Additionally, cinnamon possesses anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, which can support a healthy gut by reducing inflammation and combating harmful bacteria. This spice also promotes proper digestion by increasing the production of digestive enzymes, which assist in breaking down food more efficiently.
