Coffee may be one of the most common beverages found in homes and cafes around the world, but every bean has a rich legacy and a story to tell. This is the foundation of Roastery Coffee House, a Speciality Coffee Roaster that since 2017 has been dedicated to sustainable farming practices and zero-waste production of high-quality Indian coffee. After their first outlet opened in Hyderabad, they became a beloved destination for coffee aficionados across the country and have since opened up in many cities including Kolkata, Noida, Lucknow, and Jaipur. Now they’re set to take their next big step and spread the message about Indian speciality coffee overseas through a new venture in Helsinki, Finland.

Finland is known for having the highest per capita rate of coffee consumption globally with most people drinking up to four cups a day, making it the perfect destination for Indian coffee to make its international debut. The project was put into motion in December with a 3 day pop-up event at ISO Roobertinkatu 30 during which Roastery Coffee House introduced their ‘Monsoon Malabar’ coffee which became a crowd favourite.

The Indian coffee industry is unique among the world’s coffee producers as most estates have always followed an inherent environmentally friendly process rather than farming commercially. Roastery Coffee House took this mission a step further and innovatively utilised discarded coffee peels to produce Cascara, the first of its kind in India. This unique approach reflects the cafe's dedication to sustainability, incorporating a zero-waste model and actively contributing to the socio-economic development of farmers.

They’ve got a number of pop-ups planned through the first quarter of 2024 and are setting the stage for the grand opening of the Roastery Coffee House Cafe in Helsinki where they will continue to serve sustainable, zero-waste coffee from Indian coffee estates like Thogarihunkal estate, Baarbara estate, and Tribo estate. In a statement, Founder Nishant Sinha expressed his enthusiasm and excitement about the new opening saying, “This is more than just coffee; it's about creating an experience, and a journey of flavours. What started as a small venture dream to make speciality coffee accessible in India, Roastery Coffee House is now set to make global waves by creating a name for an Indian brand in Europe. Our decision to expand to Finland stems from a shared passion for premium coffee between the two countries.”

Their goal is to create a well-rounded cultural experience that goes beyond what’s in your cup and they also plan to showcase Indian artefacts and pashmina shawls – which are already available on the brand’s Finnish website – opening up yet another avenue to support local Indian crafts. With their decision to transparency in their growing and production process along with their dedication to high-quality beans and brews, Roastery Coffee House is taking the magic of Indian coffee to the world.
