We often want our friends over for some finger food and beverages but want to serve something different from your regular vodka, whiskey or beer. Fret not! Here are five simple cocktails that you can try at home to show off your bartending skills. 

Lemon Drop Cocktail 

  1. Gather half-ounce triple sec, one and a half ounces vodka, three-fourth ounce fresh lemon juice and one teaspoon superfine sugar. 
  2. Take out four to five ice cubes. 
  3. For the cocktail glass rim, we need a lemon twist and superfine sugar. 
  4. Place Triple Sec, Vodka, lemon juice and sugar into a cocktail shaker with the ice cubes and shake vigorously for half a minute. 
  5. At least ten minutes before serving the cocktail, chill it in the freezer. 
  6. Around the edge of the chilled cocktail glass, run the lemon twist. For a glazed side, dunk in a bit of sugar. 
  7. Pour the strained cocktail into the chilled glasses and serve. 

Black Russian

  1. Add two parts of your favourite Vodka and one part Kahlúa. 
  2. Now fill the ice in a rocks glass. 
  3. Mix well and enjoy your Black Russian. 
  4. Do not forget to garnish your Black Russian with a cherry on top.

Highball

  1. Add four to five ounces of tonic water and two ounces of gin. 
  2. In a highball glass, pour the gin and fill it with ice cubes. 
  3. Then top it with a tonic and garnish with a lime wedge.

Mimosa

  1. Mix in one-fourth cup orange juice and three-fourth cup chilled champagne. 
  2. Mix one aspect of orange juice into three parts of your favourite sparkling wine.

Margherita

  1. Run a lime wedge around the rim of a glass, dip it in salt, and fill ice in the glass. 
  2. Add tequila (Choose a silver tequila or high-quality Blanco for the best margarita), lime juice and triple sec in the Margherita/cocktail shaker. Shake well to mix. 
  3. Garnish with a lime wedge and strain the Margherita over the prepared glass and enjoy!
