We are all eagerly counting the days left to celebrate Hindu’s most beloved festival, Navratri. Navratri is a Hindu festival popularly celebrated with a much-awaited fervour and great enthusiasm every year to worship the nine incarnations of Goddess Durga. During the Navratri festival, people from all the different states observe a 9-day fast or vrat as part of an old tradition or a belief. 1. Sabudana Khichdi

Sabudana, also known as tapioca pearls, is one of the most common ingredients used to make many fasting dishes. Sabudana khichdi, one of the simplest and wholesome dishes, is prepared without combining it with onion, garlic or spices. As a result, it is a perfect go-to recipe to relish at any time of the day.

2. Sama chawal khichdi

 

Sama chawal or barnyard millet is a type of rice that is very easy to digest, light for our tummy and perfect enough to provide us with a boost of energy. Barnyard millet is used in the making of khichdi and other dishes like kheer and pulao. Sama chawal khichdi is cooked with a few ingredients like sendha namak, potatoes, and tomato combined with the right amount of spices carefully picked and used in the making.

3. Kuttu ki khichdi


Kuttu ka atta, better known as buckwheat flour, is ideal to use in dishes during the days of fast. Despite being healthy, it is tasty and mourning for our tummy. Kuttu Khichdi is prepared similarly by cooking it in desi ghee with a handful of spices and veggies like potato and tomatoes.
