A human body is 75 per cent water and therefore, it is extremely significant for our survival. Probably that’s why drinking sufficient water every day is recommended by nutritionists. With time, just like an array of varieties in food, we have got types of water too. One of them is sparkling water also known as carbonated water. This latest fad is getting popular amongst weight watchers and fitness enthusiasts. Thinking why? Well, the credit goes to its health benefits.

The basic difference between regular water and sparkling water is that the latter is infused with carbon dioxide gas under pressure that leads to a fizzy twist. However, both are equally good for digestion.

If you are looking for some significant weight loss, sparkling or carbonated water is what you should opt for. Thinking why? Well, it takes a bit more time than regular water to pass through your small intestine, and as a result, you feel satiated for long and thus your hunger pangs remain curbed for long. This way it aids in shedding those extra kilos.

Moreover, sparkling water relieves constipation and also improves your swallowing ability. It does the former by reducing flatulence and discomfort in the digestive system and the latter by stimulating the nerves responsible for swallowing.

If you wish to improve your gut health which is directly associated with your immunity, you must go for sparkling water. However, in case of heartburn or acidity, don’t forget to take medical advice before opting for sparkling water.

Can Sparkling Water Affect Your Dental Health?

Though there is no significant number of studies on this topic, one research has found that sparkling water does damage your enamel more than still water as it directly exposes your teeth to acid. Notably, sugar-containing sparkling water erodes tooth enamel and plain one appears relatively harmless. Also, the former is 100 times less damaging than sugary soft drinks, says a study published in the Journal of Oral Rehabilitation.
