The much-awaited festival of Eid is finally over now. The festivities that spread over two to three days have finally come to an end. However, yesterday was all about laughing, chatting, eating and having a great time. Seems like our celebs enjoyed themselves too. We caught several of them celebrating Eid at home with their family and friends. Bipasha Basu was one of them. She celebrated the festival at friend, Aamna Sharif’s place with loads of mutton curry, biryani and many other things. In fact, even Malaika Arora couldn’t stop herself from indulging in some kebabs and biryani this season. There are were a host of others who joined the bandwagon and made us drool.

One such celebrity was Gauahar Khan. While we were already in awe of her pilgrimage with her entire family this Ramadan to Mecca, she kept luring us with her iftar feasts and sehri treats every now and then. Finally, when Eid was here, we couldn’t miss out on her Instagram stories. She posted a series of videos with her family and friends gotten together in her house for Eid and eating away all the delicious food. Any guesses what all was there? While sevaiyaan was definitely a significant part of this Eid celebration, there’s one hero dish that can never be missed on an Eid feast. Biryani, it is guys. She panned the camera to the dining table where some of relatives were having food and then we spotted all the delicacies spread on the table. There were kebabs, a bowl full of biryani, mint-coriander chutney and onions.

The festival might have gotten over but we are still in the hangover of biryani and kebabs. So here are a few festive recipes that you could make if you’re still in the Eid wala mood.

1.  Hyderabadi Chicken Biryani

A classic treat from Hyderabad, this biryani is most commonly eaten on Eid. You can replace the chicken with mutton if you like but the flavour of biryani will still remain enticing. The fragrant saffron-coloured rice mixed with succulent pieces of chicken lend out a tempting aroma that is hard to resist. Serve with mirch ka salan and some yoghurt.

2.  Galouti Kebabs

This is a Lucknowi specialty. The delicate pieces of round, flattened meat literally melt in your mouth. In fact, you need to be very careful about holding them too. The soft and succulent minced mutton is spruced up with coriander, green chillies and some spices and cooked on a pan. These are usually served with a tangy mint chutney on the side.

3.  Sheer Khurma

A thick, milk-based dessert that is specially made on Eid, sheer khurma is a close cousin of kheer. Made with vermicelli, milk and sugar, the dessert is flavoured with a rose essence. Saffron strands are also added for some richness and chopped dry fruits are sprinkled from the top.
