This sacred fruit of Ramzan, Date, Prophet Muhammed had said that Ajwah dates those that are grown in the Madinah region of Saudi Arabia—are from paradise. It’s also said that He was reported to have said, “He who eats seven Ajwah dates every morning, will not be affected by poison or magic on the day he eats them.”
The Holy Qur’an also tells how eating dates Islam can help with the pains of pregnancy and birth in Surah Maryam. Maryam had experienced strong pains during her pregnancy with Isa , so she was instructed by Allah to eat dates to ease her discomfort. Also known as tamr (Arabic), khajoor (Urdu), hurmah (Turkish), or buah kurma (Indonesian), date happens to be that fruit that connects people. There’s a saying “seven dates a day keeps the doctor away as The Prophet had mentioned that having seven dates in the morning helped and protected you from poison and witchcraft.

And Ramzan happens to be a popular time to eating dates is seen around the world as Prophet said, “When one of you breaks his fast, let him break it with dates for they are blessed. If they are not found, let him break it with water for it is pure.” And Dates find a place on the Iftar tables across the globe during the Holy month of Ramadan. Here are the types of dates that should be consumed-
Medjool Dates
These dates are huge, soft and sweet and have a fibrous texture. Medjool dates is reddish-brown color and are majorly cultivated across Morocco, Palestine, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia.
Halawy Dates
These golden-brown skin dates originated in Mesopotamia. Tasting similar to caramel-honey, the flesh of these dates are flesh is delicate and pale.
Omani
The Omani happens to be the best variety and is generally large in size. These are dark brown in color and it gets its name from the place of origin Oman, Middle East.
Piarom Dates
This date sees a unique sweet taste, which is similar to that of toffee and caramel. Grown in the Persian Gulf and middle east areas, Piarom dates are long, thin, and oval.
Mazafati Dates
Mazafati tastes like caramel, brown sugar, and chocolate. Doesn’t that sound delicious. Mazafati dates are said to have originated from Bam, a small little city in Kerman, Iran.
Barhi Dates
These are yellow in colour and are oval shaped. Having originated in Iraq, Barhi is sweetest and creamiest dates that you can taste.
Kalmi Dates
These dark black colour dates, these are from Oman but cultivated in Madinah. These dates sees an enriched sweetness.
