In India, seasonal produce plays a role in several of our eating patterns. The dos and don'ts that keep the body in shape change with each season. According to Ayurveda, these guidelines are established based on the body's Vata, Pitta, and Kapha makeup. Vata here stands for movement, followed by Pitta metabolism, Kapha structure, and water. They all exhibit distinct behaviours when the seasons change, and how well they work is greatly influenced by what we eat and how we live our everyday lives. We frequently hear advice to steer clear of curd and green vegetables during the months of Shravan and Bhado.
"Ritucharya" refers to the food and lifestyle regimens that are based on the four seasons in the traditional medicinal system of Ayurveda. According to it, Pitta functions begin to build up and produce health problems in the same month as Vata is intensified during the Shravan and Bhado months. It is advised to stay away from meals like curd and green vegetables throughout these months because of this.

It has been established that eating green leafy vegetables in the month of Shravan is forbidden because they are known to induce vata. Ayurveda has the view that during the month of Bhado, one should abstain from all fermented foods, especially curd, as this is when Pita aggravates and produces health problems. During the rainy season, you shouldn't consume curd or its byproducts. The monsoon season brings an increase in bacteria in dairy products. Despite being delicious, kadhi includes besan and is chilly, making it difficult to digest. Additionally, the buttermilk is made from milk provided by cows who are grazing on newly sprung grass during the rainy season that is already polluted and contaminated. The sky is heavily clouded and there is a lot of rain in Sawan month. This slows down the atmosphere and interferes with our digestion. Digestion slows down more as drinking water quality declines. In a similar vein, the same water issue makes immunity a key issue. Due to this, it becomes difficult for the body to digest kadhi. Hence it is advised to avoid it during Sawan month.
