Water bottles have become one of the most essential parts of our daily lives. Because it is handy and portable, we can carry it anywhere. Most of the bottles are reusable and cleaning them properly seems like a daunting task. People either end up washing with plain water or do not wash at all, but what about the hidden germs and pathogens?
If you fail to clean water bottles, it will expose you to germs. The bottle’s inside is a sort of damp and dark environment where bacteria love to grow, making it a perfect breeding ground for germs to proliferate. According to a study conducted by Water Filter Guru.com, the average usable water bottle contains 40,000 times more bacteria than the toilet seat.
If you witness a slimy gloss or smell a bad odour, your water bottle needs cleaning as soon as possible. Apart from cleaning your water bottle regularly with water, you need to give it a deep cleaning once a week. There are several ways in which you can clean your water bottle. Take a look at some of them:
1. Hot Water and Dish Soap
Often, water bottles turn sticky and slippery if not cleaned properly. To avoid such a situation, take a large water pot and fill it with hot water, salt, and baking soda. Whisk the solution and dip the bottles in it for 10 minutes. Now take dishwashing liquid and a bottle cleaning scrub and rub and clean the bottles. Wash and dry them completely before use.
2. Vinegar And Water Solution
Vinegar is another natural disinfectant that can be used to clean stubborn stains from bottles. The acidic property of the vinegar helps remove the stains. A solution of vinegar can help remove odours and sticky deposits from water bottles. To make this solution, take a bowl and add warm water and equal parts of vinegar. Apply this diluted solution to bottles and caps and let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes. Later, rinse it thoroughly with clean water and dry it before use.
3. Baking Soda
Owing to its alkali property, make a paste of baking soda along with lemon juice. Apply the paste all over the bottles to remove the stains. You can also add the paste to the hot water and soak it in the solution. Rinse them off with dishwashing liquid and a scrubber. Wash and clean the bottles and dry them.
4. Lemon And Neem Water
The anti-microbial qualities of neem and the acidic property of lemon help fight against the growth of bacteria in the water bottle. In a large vessel, add water, neem leaves, and lemon slices. Bring it to a boil. Turn off the flame, add the glass and steel bottles, and let them soak in the solution for 20 minutes. Take them out, wash them with soap, dry, and use them.
5. Spray Solution
Make a simple solution of vinegar, baking soda, lemon juice, and salt and apply it to the bottles to clean the grease or gunk deposition. Let the solution sit for 15 minutes. Then clean them with dishwater and allow them to dry before using.
