What are the three types of food? 

Mainly three types of food have been mentioned in Ayurveda and Yoga Shastra. The first is rajasic, the second tamasic and the third sattvic. Today we will know the difference between these three types and what is eaten in which type of food. 

Rajasic food

The royal families prepared this food; hence it is called Rajasic food. Such a diet includes both salty and spicy foods. Apart from these, bitter and dry ingredients are also included in it. Such foods and drinks stimulate the mind, giving a lot of energy to the human being. Moreover, rajasic food contains onion-garlic in large quantities and is cooked for quite an extended period. Onion, garlic, tobacco, meat, alcohol etc., are used in making such food. Tamasic food is overcooked with spices which dull the body and mind. Excessive consumption can lead to laziness, confusion and disorientation. Due to lots of spices, tamasic foods cannot be eaten after reheating. Because rewarming herby foods often harms health. All these things are included in the Tamasic diet:

Sattvic food

Sattvic food is quite different from the other two types of food. It is a simple meal in which is eaten by boiling foods. According to Ayurveda and Yoga Shastra, this food is considered the best and purest. People engaged in religious activities, yoga, and worshipers consume it. It nourishes the body, maintains peace of mind and develops the ability to work. All these things are included in the Sattvic diet:
