History And Its Origin

Shri Sagar, an iconic restaurant, was started in the 1920s by Y.V. Subramanyam and his brothers (Y.V. Krishna Iyer, Y.V. Srikanteshwaran, and Y.V. Ramachandran). These rich legacy builders were from a village called Yelagondahalli in Mulbagal taluk of Kolar district.

CTR has undergone changed leadership and name over the years. According to the records, it was established as Shree Sagar in 1950, and bought by Sanjeev S. Poojari in 1992, who renamed it Shri Sagar, formally known as Central Tiffin Room and fondly known as CTR.

However, the restaurant was renovated in 2011 to fit more people, and even today the restaurant keeps its old charm with a vintage wall clock and rosewood furniture. The tables, topped with Italian marble, add a touch of elegance to the place.

According to the data, every day, over 3,500 customers and more than 7,500 benne masale doses are served daily in this restaurant, showcasing the enduring popularity of this iconic eatery.
