Using natural cleaning solutions has gained popularity in recent years, and one of the most effective and eco-friendly options is orange peel-infused vinegar. This DIY cleaner is not only budget-friendly but also utilizes kitchen scraps, making it an excellent way to reduce waste while keeping your home clean.

The combination of vinegar’s potent cleaning properties and the fresh citrus scent of orange peels creates a powerful, natural cleaner that's safe for most household surfaces. Here's a guide on how to infuse vinegar with orange peels and how to use it effectively around your home.

Vinegar is known for its acidic properties, which make it an excellent cleaning agent. It effectively cuts through grease, removes stains, and disinfects surfaces. However, the strong, pungent smell of vinegar can be off-putting. This is where orange peels come into play. The natural oils found in orange peels contain limonene, a powerful degreasing agent with antibacterial and antifungal properties. By infusing vinegar with orange peels, you enhance its cleaning power while also masking the harsh vinegar scent with a refreshing citrus fragrance.

Content creator Armen Adamjan who's best known for his DIY home remedies recently posted a tutorial on how to infuse orange peels with vinegar to make a sweet-smelling, upcycled cleaning spray. Here's how you can make this homemade cleaning spray. Collect peels from about 4-6 oranges. You can save them gradually in the refrigerator until you have enough.

Find a clean glass jar with a lid. Make sure it’s large enough to accommodate the orange peels and vinegar. Fill the jar with the orange peels, pressing them down gently. Pour white vinegar over the peels until they are completely submerged. Make sure the peels are covered to prevent mold growth.

Seal the jar with the lid and let it sit in a cool, dark place for about 2 weeks. Shake the jar every few days to help the infusion process.

After 2 weeks, strain the liquid to remove the peels and any pulp. Transfer the infused vinegar into a clean spray bottle, and it's ready to use!
