Every year, the birth anniversary of India’s first Prime Minister Pt Jawaharlal Nehru is celebrated as Children’s Day (Bal Diwas). Since he was very fond of kids, November 14 is marked as a tribute to his affection toward children. And what do little ones love the most - toys, gifts, games and, of course, food.

With Children’s Day just around the corner, it isn’t just about treating them to their favourite items, but also about cooking something special that can put a smile on their face. Since it is their special day, you could throw a party for them at home and make all their favourite snacks. From pizzas to pastas, fries and more, let them relish all these yummy treats to the core.

So what can you make? Here are a few quick snack bites to try at home.

1.  Cheesy Chipotle Fries

All things saucy and cheesy are the route to a kid’s heart. Most kids love deep-fried potato fries for snacks and gobble down in minutes. For this, all you need is some hot chipotle sauce, along with loads of grated cheese. Slice potatoes into thin strips, coat in cornflour and deep-fry. Toss them in the sauce and slather with grated cheese. Heat a little and let the kids enjoy it.

2.  Pizza Muffins

Stop bluffing and make these pizza muffins. These mini treats are the best snacks for parties and get-togethers. Since children love pizza, dunk the same in a muffin-like dough. Stuff with loads of veggies like broccoli, corn, mushroom, and garnish with parsley, shredded mozzarella cheese, and oregano. Add some marinara sauce for flavour and bake in the oven for a few minutes.

3.  Mini Cheesecakes

While making a whole cheesecake may be cumbersome and difficult for kids to eat, these miniature versions of cheesecake are a must-try. All you need are some vanilla wafers, cream cheese and granulated sugar. Top the batter with cherries and bake until the crust turns light brown. These bites will satiate your kid’s sweet tooth to the core.

4.  Lasagna Cups

For kids, it is more about how the food looks before they are willing to taste it. Colourful and small portions attract them the most. So instead of making your regular pasta or going through the effort of making a lasagna bowl, try these cups filled with the flavour of their favourite pasta. Load up with parmesan and shredded cheese along with Bolognese pasta sauce and enjoy. Add veggies like tomatoes and onions if you like.

5.   Vegetable Spring Rolls

Not just cheesy and saucy, crispy, and crunchy bites are also a crowd pleaser at kids’ parties. Make these veggie-stuffed deep-fried spring rolls to impress your children on their special day. Stuff with chopped cabbage, onions, carrots, and boiled noodles too. Toss all of this in soy sauce and spices. Roll the spring roll sheet and deep-fry until it turns golden-brown. Cut into smaller pieces and serve with a chilli dip.
