Where Did Cherry Pie Come From?

First pies are believed to be made by the Romans, but the idea was of the Greeks. They often made pies by filling something sweet inside a reed. Reeds, however, were not eaten. They were just used to hold the sweet filling. In later decades, Europe had very different ideas about pies. They were called ‘pyes’ and were primarily non-vegetarian. The filling as well as the crust was made out of meat. But by the 1500s, fruit pies had come into existence. The first cherry pie was served to Queen Elizabeth 1 in England! Soon, the idea of fruit pies spread to the USA and they improvised it. Today, they have become an integral part of the American culture.
