One of the most amazing aspects of being a chef is to keep a finger on the pulse and having the opportunity to eat what contemporaries in the business are cooking up….quite literally! This holds true in the case of Michelin-star chef Gaggan Anand, who recently made a trip to India and like most other guests, had a ball of a time eating some delicious food across a handful of cities. Sharing what he thought was ‘some of the best things he ate in India during this trip,’ Anand posted videos and pictures on his social media – starting off with the iconic panki and guava ice cream from Mumbai’s Swati Snacks.
This was followed by an assortment of momos and chili pork (not pictured), which he enjoyed at the Nepalese restaurant – The Blue Poppy Thakali – in Kolkata, along with a portion of some delicious looking chili chicken. Next, he went on to share a few beautifully plated dishes from chef Niyati Rao’s ingredient-driven restaurant, Ekaa in Mumbai and circled back to a plate of what looks like undhiyu and rotlas from Swati Snacks. The last image of a stuffed lobster garnished with gundu chillies and raw onion rings left us drooling, half wishing we could also get to sample some of these lip-smacking plates. What he didn’t post a picture of, but mentioned enjoying was a Kerala-style meal in Bengaluru’s gourmet dining restaurant, Kappa Chakka Kandhari.
