Here's how you can make sweet potato halwa at home

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon powdered green cardamom
  • 3 tablespoon ghee
  • 1 handful mixed dry fruits
  • water as required
  • 2 1/2 cup grated sweet potato
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 8 strand saffron
  • 2 tablespoon lukewarm milk

Method

  • Use a pressure cooker to boil sweet potatoes for this delectable halwa. When finished, set them aside to cool. Then, peel, mash, and set aside the sweet potatoes in a bowl. To make saffron milk, combine the lukewarm milk with the saffron strands in a small bowl. This saffron milk should be set aside until needed.
  • Melt some ghee should in a heavy nonstick pan over a medium temperature. Add the mashed sweet potatoes to the melted ghee and cook for 2–3 minutes, or until they are light brown in colour.
  • Then add water, sugar, and cardamom powder to the pan with the milk. Cook the sweet potatoes for 7-8 minutes, stirring to combine well. There is a good risk that the sweet potatoes will stick to the bottom, so stir frequently.
  • Lastly, add chopped mixed dried fruits and saffron milk to the pan. Cook for an additional five minutes while stirring frequently after thoroughly combining. Turn off the burner and serve the milk hot once it has entirely been absorbed. You can add some extra chopped dry fruits and saffron threads to the sweet potato halwa as a garnish.
