Visiting patrons at The Bombay Canteen were in for a fun surprise on Tuesday, as the cast of Zoya Akhta’s upcoming film – Archies – were serving up some of the specials, as part of the restaurant’s annual Independence Day Dawat. The fund-raising feast is meant to raise money this year to supply ration kits to 2000+ families across Palghar and Raigad districts in Maharashtra. It was made even more special for donors and guests, when Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor, Agastya Nanda, Vedang Raina, Mihir Ahuja, Dot. and Yuvraj Menda personally took up service duties to interact with those present.
The cast walked amongst tables at the restaurant, serving up breads, kachori, tricolour barfi, papad and sabzis to the guests, who enjoyed eating the meal off of banana leaves. The all-vegetarian fare consisted of rice, three to four different regional vegetable preparations, pao, papad, dal, a sweet beverage and delicious sweets to conclude the meal. The collective effort of the feast was pulled off by chef Hussain Shahzad and the team at the restaurant, after which, the cast settled to enjoy the delicacies prepared for the special occasion.

Dressed in traditional attire, the cast was seen posing for pictures, snacking in-between breaks and sharing a laugh among each other. The official page of the restaurant shared a few glimpses of this star-studded appearance on social media. They captioned the carousel of captured moments saying, “Look who took a break from Pop Tates to show up at The Bombay Canteen? The Archies! Always showing up for a good cause, The Archies volunteered at our Independence Day Daawat to lend a hand and pass on the plate! It was an absolute delight to have The Archies join our mission that brings people together over good food, for a good cause! We cannot wait to see what good they are up to next! Thank you Archie, Veronica, Betty, Reggie, Jughead, Ethel & Dilton! They have a film releasing later this year called The Archies! And we can’t wait to Netflix and chill with them!”
