Several nutritionists and doctors also recommend the root vegetable in the diets of high blood pressure patients for a multitude of reasons, but mainly because of its high potassium content. Turns out potassium helps work as an antidote to the ill-effects of sodium. People with high BP are often advised to cut down on their sodium intake. That is because sodium disrupts water balance. Your body holds extra water, to wash off the salt, which may result in high blood pressure. Eating foods rich in potassium, makes you urinate, which helps expel extra sodium and restore water balance in body.

How To Make Beetroot Juice?

Even though beetroot is more of a winter vegetable, nowadays it is available all year round. Make sure you grab hold of good quality beetroot and wash it well to ensure there is no dirt. Now peel them nicely, and add it to the blender. 4 medium-sized beets should be enough for 1-2 glasses. Add 1 medium-sized carrot and 2 tbsp lemon juice. Blend until you get the consistency of your liking, you can add some water to make it thinner, but do not add too much water.

In addition to BP, beetroot juice can also do wonders for your skin and weight. It is loaded with vitamin C, which can boost collagen production and give your skin a natural glow. The low-cal drink can also help keep those extra kilos at bay.
