French beans are quite famous, for example, and they are often eaten steamed or boiled with dips and sauces. Here we are trying a variety found in American restaurants. Packed with the goodness of vegetables and a crispy coating of batter, it is a succulent and juicy snack.

Closer home, lets’ remember the staple of Indian monsoons- our good old pakodas (very famous all around the world as fritters) and let the beans be the protagonist. Although in the West, the fritters are mostly made of onions. They are deep fried in batter- deriving the name onion ring fritters and resemble Spanish tapas to some extent. Here we replace the besan( chickpea flour) with the classic all-purpose flour and egg batter. In the end, we use parmesan cheese. Rest, they say, is history.

Ingredients:

  • 150 g beans
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • Salt
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • ½ tsp pepper powder
  • 1 tsp tangy sauce
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup bread crumb
  • 1 tbsp cheese
  • 1 tsp chat masala

Method:

  • Take some bread crumbs in a flat vessel(to coat later on).
  • On another plate, take all-purpose flour tempered with salt and pepper (to coat later on).
  • In a bowl, take all-purpose flour, salt, chilli powder, pepper powder, tangy sauce, and whisk.
  • Add water if required.
  • Now in this mixture add egg, mix it like a thin batter.
  • Take beans and first coat the all-purpose flour mixture, then dip it into the egg mixture, then coat with bread crumbs, and deep fry in the hot oil.
  • The flame should be medium so that the bean inside the coating can cook properly.
  • Fry till golden in colour.
  • To add flavour, take parmesan cheese and chat masala mix.
  • Sprinkle it on top of crispy fried green beans at last and enjoy.
