Puran Poli

Shrikhand 

Shrikhand is a popular sweet dish not just in Maharashtra but in Gujarat too. It is a creamy and delicious dessert made from strained yogurt or hung curd, sugar, and flavored with cardamom, saffron, spices as well as nuts. It's often served chilled and is an absolute comfort dessert. 

Modak 

Prevalent during Ganesh Chaturthi, modak is a traditional sweet dish which is Lord Ganesh’s favourite. These are actually rice dumplings made with a filling of coconut, jaggery, and sometimes nuts and cardamom. It is easy to make and when served with a spoonful of ghee, it tastes delicious. 

Basundi 

If there is a rich and thick milk-based dessert popular in Maharashtra, it could be no other than basundi. Made up of reduced milk with added sugar, cardamom, saffron, and nuts. It could be served chilled and often served with puris. This thick sweet dish can take away all your worries. 

Kharvas 

This steamed pudding-like dessert is made of milk and is called Kharvas. This traditional Maharashtrian dessert is flavoured with cardamom and saffron. With a consistency similar to custard, this milk pudding is delicately sweet and can be consumed after a meal.  

Karanji 

Also known as gujiya, nevri and pedakiya, this is a popular Maharashtrian dessert known for its crispy texture. It is a crescent-shaped treat traditionally made with a classic filling made up of coconut, jaggery and dry fruits.
