There’s nothing more therapeutic than baking. It’s just mind-blowing how mixing flour, sugar, and butter together, with some patience of waiting to hear the oven’s bell, can turn into something so delicious. And when you just add some or the other twist like jam, chocolate, caramel, coconut, etc, it just adds up to making a palate happy.

But only bakers know it’s not as magical as it sounds. If not measured the ingredients properly, forgetting to set the right temperature, putting the icing on before time, and the list of things that could go wrong can go on and on. So, if you’re a beginner or a seasoned baker, here are a few tips to get the perfect batch of cookies.

Take The Right Measurements

As you would already know, mismatching the measurements can turn the whole baking process into a fiasco. So, while reading the recipe, take note that all the measurements are of the same units.

Be very mindful if it says tablespoons or teaspoons. Also, while measuring, dust off the extra ingredients and fill a cup or a spoon to eye level.

Chill The Cookie Dough

One of the most important things to do while baking is to do it without stress. So, chill! And let the cookie dough chill for some time as well. Letting the dough set and cool for a few hours can level up your cookie game. So, after your batter is ready, make small balls out of the dough, lay them in a tray, and cover with a clear film. Refrigerate for a few hours to prevent the cookies from falling apart after they are baked.

Mind The Temperature

Taking the temperature of the ingredients into account is another important step that people often miss. If the recipe says you need eggs and butter at room temperature, ensure that you take them out of the refrigerator before using them. Your urge to just mix them in as is when in a hurry is understandable, but to get the perfect batch, mining the temperature is necessary.

Take Perfect Scoops

To get the perfect shape and size of a cookie, you need to master the art of scooping. But don’t worry; it’s not too difficult. All you need to do is to ensure that when you’re taking portions of dough out, use a scooper or a tablespoon to get just the right amount without breaking the dough. Then, you can roll the balls while ensuring that there is enough space between each cookie dough as they’ll flatten once heated in the oven.

One Batch At A Time

The urge to get the maximum number of cookies in the minimum time can is real. But if you overcrowd your baking tray, the cookies will fall on top of each other, and you’ll not get the perfect round shapes. Also, avoid keeping two trays in the oven unless it says in the recipe. Every cookie needs the right amount of heat and temperature to get that perfect crisp, so be patient, and it will surely pay off.
