One of the most loved cooking reality shows I.e., MasterChef India’s 7th season came to an end on Friday with Assam’s Nayanjyoti Saikia declared as the winner. Known for his simplicity and exemplary culinary skills, Nayanjyoti Saikia won hearts of not just the judges but the entire world watching him. After overcoming all the challenges along with the finale challenge, Nayanjyoti emerged as the absolute winner.
Assam’s Santa Sarmah became the first runner up while Mumbai’s Suvarna Bagul emerged as the second runner up among the top home cooks who participated in the show. Nayanjyoti took home the coveted trophy, Rs 25 lakh cash prize and the golden chef’s coat. Both Santa Sarmah and Suvarna Bagul were given a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh each. Amul’s Managing Director Jayen Mehta also gave medals to the three finalists and congratulated them for their journey.

Along with MasterChef India 7’s judges' chef Vikas Khanna, chef Garima Arora and chef Ranveer Brar, renowned chef and Padma Shri Sanjeev Kapoor also joined the finale and gave a signature three-course meal challenge to the three finalists. For the ultimate finale, Nayanjyoti presented Tinsukia on his plate as a part of his challenge. He started with curried crab followed by an Assamese style-duck and a mixed berry sorbet.
In an interview, Nayanjyoti said that he had some self-doubts, but the judges motivated him and guided him in the journey. He thanked chef Vikas Khanna for helping him since the day of his auditions and the MasterChef India for giving him a platform, giving him a chance to get mentored under the best chefs, providing stat-of-the-art food facilities and making him learn so much.

After Nayanjyoti’s big victory, chef Vikas Khanna, chef Garima Arora and chef Ranveer Brar took to Instagram and shared their happiness. While chef Garima wrote ‘Assam boy Nayanjyoti Saikia @the_travellercook wins MasterChef India Season 7. Congratulations for a wonderful and inspiring journey and making all of us proud’. She added ‘It’s notable that Santa Sharma @masterchef_santa who is also from Assam bags the first runner- up title’. She also mentioned ‘@masterchef_naziasultana from Assam were also at the top 10 league of the season. Congratulations to all three of them for making the entire Assam and Northeast proud of their culinary skills’.
Chef Vikas Khanna shared a video of him and the other judges with Nayanjyoti and captioned it as ‘Nayan your journey from the hidden kitchen in your bedroom to the vastness of the Universe. You make us all believe that if we are honest, work hard, focused, learn, train nonstop & stay calm…..the victory is ours. Presenting to you the WINNER of 1.4 billion hearts & MasterChef.
