Asia’s 100 Best Restaurants 2022 were announced recently in two parts. First the Asia’s best restaurants ranked 51-100 were announced and then top 50 of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022. Tokyo-based restaurant Den topped the list while nine restaurants from Indian too made their presence in the list. The event was aired live on the social media handles and the event was open in person attendance post Covid19 only at Pullman in Bangkok, Wynn in Macau and Palace Hotel Tokyo.
Here are India’s top who made it to the list
Masque, Mumbai
This fine dine progressive restaurant in Mumbai, founded by chef Prateek Sadhu and director Aditi Dugar has grabbed the 21st position. The concept was Masque where it offers a ten-course tasting menu. the focus of the menu is to play with indigenous ingredients and transforming the home-made traditional recipes with a modern elegant touch. The restaurant believes in holding India’s flavourful legacy like adding edible ants to a dessert of rich Pondicherry chocolate.
The restaurant was also in news recently as Prateek Sadhu parted ways with the brand.
Indian Accent, New Delhi
Indian accent founded by Manish Mehrotra, all about creativity on a plate. The menu is a melange of cuisine from across the country that is completed with global ingredients and techniques mastered by the chef himself. Their pumpkin bitterballen with mustard and coconut or the herb goat cheese vada pao will never fail to impress.
Megu, New Delhi
This authentic Japanese restaurant in The Leela Palace, New Delhi is all about excellence and finesse. The wine and sake menu are totally worth a mention. The food too is non the less ravishing. Believe it or not the fish is imported from Tsukiji market in Tokyo and each dish sees Japanese craft on the plate. Be it the 24-hour braised pork belly or the house special rolls, each is a stellar.
Bukhara, New Delhi
This historic place one needs no introduction. Bukhara, ITC Maurya, A Luxury Collection Hotel, New Delhi sees am elegant and plush interiors with artistically done décor add to the vibrant hues of the place. The melodious soft music literally soothes your sense. The shining cutlery and the exclusive tableware and attractive plates add to the fine dining experience. Dum Pukht, New Delhi
Started in 1977, Dum Pukht from ITC Maurya, A Luxury Collection Hotel, New Delhi is all about an old charm. This restaurant is known for its royal experience as it recreates the 200 yr old culinary legacy from the kitchens of the majestic Awadhi Nawabs. The dal dum pukht with naan or the delicate kakori kebab or the murgh chandi tikka each dish is a stellar.
Avartana, Chennai
Another one from ITC, Avartana, Chennai is all about giving that modern touch to traditional South Indian dishes. The restaurant at ITC Grand Chola sees multiple set tasting menus, each available in vegetarian – the seven-course ‘Maya’, nine-course ‘Bela’, 11-course ‘Jiaa’, and the 13-course ‘Anika’ or ‘Tara’. Each tasting menu is a series of small bites, such as infused tomato rasam, or pan-fried cod and more.
