Now in her latest update, she was seen noshing upon a street food that is sure to make you slurp. Taking to her Instagram Stories, just like each time, Anushka shared a picture from her Friday morning table out in the sun, featuring Aloo Bajji/pakodas. A classic Indian snack, pakodas or bajjis in south are deep-fried fritters that makes for a perfect pairing with a piping hot cup of chai.

On Anushka’s plate we saw a mix of fried fritters including those of aloo and what looked like methi and pyaz. Winter season is the best time to indulge in some methi pakodas while soaking up the sun – and this is exactly what Anushka seems to be doing in the picture. Take a look at what she shared: 

Doesn’t it look absolutely drool-worthy? Pakodas are quite a conversation-starter and when you have so many options to try from- it is hard to choose one. Ingredients 

  • 1 potato 
  • 1/2 cup besan 
  • 2 tbsp rice flour 
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder 
  • ½ tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder 
  • ½ tsp chaat masala 
  • Pinch of asafoetida 
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste 
  • ½ tsp salt 
  • ½ cup of water 
  • Oil (for frying) 

Method 

  • First, remove the potato peel and slice thinly. Rinse in cold water to remove starch from potatoes. 
  • Now dry to remove excess water. Keep aside. 
  • Also, prepare the gram flour batter by taking 3/4 cup gm flour and rice flour in a bowl. 
  • Add turmeric, chilli powder, chaat masala, asafoetida, and salt. Mix all the ingredients well. 
  • Add water and whisk. Make a smooth batter without any lumps. 
  • Also, add a pinch of baking soda and mix slowly. Make sure the stability of the batter is correct. 
  • Dip the chopped potatoes in the prepared gram flour batter and coat it completely. 
  • Fry deep in hot oil. Stir occasionally and fry on both sides. 
  • Also, fry the potatoes until it turns golden brown. Finally, the potato pakora or potato bajji is ready to serve.
