But there is one more snack native to the place and has been ruling our hearts since ages. 

We are talking about paneer pakoda from Amritsar. If you think that this is your regular paneer pakoda then you are wrong. This pakoda is different and special, thanks to the ingredients and the technique of making it. This pakoda has a thicker layer of gram flour with spiced paneer inside it. It could be your perfect tea-time snack as well as a starter for your dinner party. Not just it is delicious but easy to make. All you need is some patience and the right recipe. And for the recipe, you need not look anywhere else as you have come to the right place. Follow the steps below and making this absolutely delicious pakoda at home.

                              Pic- Amritsari Paneer Pakoda

Ingredients 

  • 500 gm paneer 
  • 2 tbsp rice flour 
  • 2 tbsp gram flour 
  • 1 tsp dried mango powder or aamchur 
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder 
  • 2 tsp Kashmiri red chili powder 
  • 4 tsp ginger garlic paste 
  • ½ tsp coriander powder 
  • ½ tsp ajwain 
  • 1 cup lemon juice 
  • Salt to taste 
  • 1 cup water  

Method 

  • First slice the paneer and keep them aside. 
  • Take a bowl and add 2 tsp lemon juice. Add ½ tsp Kashmiri red chili powder, ½ tsp ginger garlic paste, little salt and mix. 
  • Wrap the paneer slices into the mixture and let them stay like that for some time. 
  • Take a bowl and add besan and rice flour. 
  • Add coriander powder, turmeric powder, ajwain, red chili powder, amchur and salt to taste. Mix well. 
  • Add water and form a desired consistency. Meanwhile, take a small bowl and add ½ tsp besan and ½ tsp rice flour. 
  • Then, take the marinated paneer and roll them into the besan and rice flour mix. 
  • Heat a kadhai and add oil. When the oil is hot enough, fry the marinated paneer slices until they attain a beautiful brown colour. 
  • When done, take out and sprinkle little chaat masala over the pakodas. 
  • Serve with mint and coriander chutney and enjoy!!
