A huge stack of pancakes with a side of maple syrup and butter, that’s my kind of Sunday brunch. Often, I would get confused as to whether I should call it an English breakfast or an American one. It is only later that I discovered that while both have pancakes on their menu, the latter like it fluffier while the former ones are closers to the thin French crepes. Here, in Delhi, there are quite a few cafes that offer pancakes for their breakfast and brunch menus along with condiments like whipped cream, maple syrup, honey, fruits etc.

The most basic batter preparation for a pancake would mean maida (all-purpose flour) along with eggs, milk and butter. The dough is flattened and fried over a pan, thus calling it pancakes. However, there are several other ways in which you can prep the pancake batter. Here, we have dug out five different ingredients that will give you the delicious pancake experience.

1.Cottage Cheese Pancakes

Cottage cheese or paneer is drained well and mixed with the other ingredients to form a dough. The rolled out pancakes are then fried and turn out to be as fluffy as your usual ones.

2.  Almond Flour Pancakes

As the name suggests, the batter is prepared with almond flour as the binding agent. The eggs are slightly beaten and mixed with it. You can top it with sliced roasted almonds and blueberries.

3.Sweet Potato Pancakes

These might appear like a poori at first, but it is actually pancakes fried in ghee with hints of jaggery.

4.Oatmeal Pancakes

Use the highly-fibrous oatmeal for the pancake batter and these will turn out really smooth and soft. Add cinnamon for the strong flavour.

5.  Coconut Flour Pancakes

Made with coconut flour, the pancakes are topped with cherries and berries and eaten with greek yoghurt.

Honestly, I can have pancakes for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
