Every now and then, we hear about bizarre food trends and experiments. However, amidst this chaos and the fever to go viral, there are certain acts of humanity that might get missed out on. Do you remember when the second wave hit India and people were losing their loved ones every minute, there were so many sections of society that were in dire need of even the basic amenities like hospital beds, oxygen, ventilators etc.? During this time, several schools and religious places like Gurudwaras were converted into Covid wards to attend to the patients.
During this time, a lot of people did not have access to basic meals of the day too. Due to unemployment and rising prices of food resources, they became unaffordable for a huge part of the population. That’s when the Sikhs came together and several foundations joined hands to feed the poor and needy in such circumstances. Food packets were provided by Khalsa Aid to the families in need. Similarly, in the recent times, we came across an unlimited thali being sold in the Rohini area of Delhi.
Led by Sita Ji ki Rasoi, the initiative is to provide a fulfilling and nutritious meal to people at affordable rates. The small shack that has been set up feeds people with a thali filled with dal, roti and chawal. The thali is nominally priced at INR 10. The best part is that there is no limit on how much you can eat. Once finished, you can go for as many refills as you like. For those who cannot pay at all, the thali is totally free of cost. Posted by @thefoodiehat on their Instagram account, the video has managed to win the hearts of many. Here take a look.

2. Jain Chawal Wale
This place has many old memories associated with it for me. Back in my college days, when my friends and I would be extremely broke for a café lunch, we would head to Jain Chawal Wale in Connaught Place for a delicious plate of rajma chawal, kadhi chawal, chole chawal etc. Running in business since 1978, each plate is served with a side of crunchy papad, onion rings and some achaar. The quantity is totally worth it and it usually comes to cost you somewhere between INR 100-200 for a meal.
