Planning a barbeque party at home is the perfect way to spend the weekend. It is always fun to have some people around to play light music in the background while barbecuing food. All you need is a barbeque stand and some burgers and vegetables to cook. If you are planning to host a barbeque and are not sure about what to do then here are some tips and tricks for you to have a successful party at home.

1. Plan the Details

Planning small details like the venue and the time is very important. Generally, the right time to plan a barbeque party is the afternoon or evening. If you have a small backyard then it will work as the location. You can just set up small chairs, where people can sit and enjoy. But if you are planning to organise a big barbeque party, then booking a place can also be an option. Based on your guest list, you can decide on the venue.

2. Prepare your menu

It is always good to prepare a menu in advance so that you do not have to face the difficulty of arranging things at the last moment. If you have guests that eat both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food, then you can bring some sausages and cottage cheese. For vegetables, you can bring different types of bell peppers, mushrooms, broccoli and onions. Soya Chaap is also a great option. Potato wedges are also one thing that is enjoyed by everyone so they can be on the menu as well.

3. Prepare the side dishes as well

While preparing the menu, make sure that you look after the side dishes as well. By side dishes, we mean arranging different types of dips and drinks. Several dips can go with your menu including Tandoori Dip, Hummus, Chilli Sauce and many other things. Honey mustard and Chipotle Dip can also be a great option. For drinks, depending on your guests, you can include different types of mocktails and cocktails. Generally, people like to have refreshing drinks with barbeque dishes, so you can choose things likewise.

4. Keep your table ready before the arrival of guests

To start the party at the decided hour, make sure that you prepare everything before the arrival of guests. Do not keep the guests waiting until you arrange everything. Set the table counter properly and arrange your barbeque stands. Chop the vegetables in advance and keep them prepared. As soon as your guests arrive, they can start barbecuing the things that they like, and nobody has to wait. Everything including toppings, dips and drinks should be there.

5. Serve snacks other than the barbeque dishes

Since you probably can't arrange enough barbeques to cater to all of your guests at once, you should prepare at least 2 to 3 snacks that can be served directly to them. This way, nobody will have to stand hungry for longer periods, and while your guests are waiting for their turn, they can eat the other available snacks. By doing so you will ensure that nobody is standing unattended. Some examples of these snacks can be french fries, fritters, fresh-cut fruits and other such things.

6. Tell your guests to bring something for the party

While giving invitations try to tell all your guests to bring at least something that can be contributed to the party. This will extend the menu and everyone will have a variety of options to choose from. As a party host, you will also not have to take on the extra pressure of arranging multiple things. This way, the party can become more inclusive and all your guests can feel like they’re included in the day.

7. Set up games

Other than music and Barbeque, playing games is a great option to have an engaging barbeque party. You can play card games or board games together or you can also arrange games like passing the parcel or musical chair. Keeping prizes for winners is a great way to promote sportsmanship and participation. The party becomes more interesting for all the guests and you end up having a great time.

It's always nice to decorate your place for a party as you end up getting amazing pictures clicked. You do not have to go over the top with your decoration game but making small efforts can make a huge difference. You can take some fairy lights and bulbs to decorate your backyard. This will brighten up the whole place and towards the end of the evening, you will see the whole place lit up so beautifully.

These are some tips that you can incorporate if you are planning to have a barbeque party at your home. We all learn from mistakes and we can't do everything at once but we can always try to make our party an unforgettable experience for everyone.
