Kim Fa

Located near the Chinese Kali Temple, this low-key, yellow-walled restaurant is cosy, pocket-friendly and makes some of the most scrumptious Chinese food in town. The Kim Fa Chilli Chicken is the show-stealer; made with a hearty dose of green chillies, the dry chicken dish has a mild sweet kick which makes it so yummy. The Mixed Chow Chow Rice has a flavourful, serving of chicken and crunchy veggie broth served on a bed of white steamed rice. The Hakka noodles at Kim Fa are perfectly wok-fried to a light brownish hue and are topped with generous portions of meat and veggies.

This 83-year-old hideaway is the best destination in Tangra for some hand-pulled noodles and wontons and is styled inside a home. Their pork wonton chow is almost buttery and has a delicious savouriness to it, the appetiser selection has some amazing picks. Pair their dry chilli chicken with some savoury and silky singhara noodles and don’t miss out on their pork kaptai which is their signature and perfectly seasoned.

Kafulok is one of the bigger restaurants in Tangra, besides Beijing, Big Boss etc. The Chicken Kafulok soup is loaded with chicken and veggies, pair it with the crispy fried ginger prawns and dry chilli chicken. Their portions are generous and you have convenient options for small, medium and large servings. Their fried wontons are light and airy and their Hakka noodles are quite filling and savoury. Try their lemon chicken too, which is a light, herbaceous dish with mild citrus notes. And make sure you order a wonton for the table as they’re super bingeable!

Don’t miss out on their Thai soup, which has a hint of tanginess and is one of the most authentic renditions of the soup you can find in town.
