We are all conscious and conscientious about what we eat and how much we eat. These days, health and fitness are highly discussed topics. Growing food adulteration and pollution have resulted in a decline in the quality of the food we consume, including vegetables, fruits, cereals, dairy products, and so on.
Honey is one of the most adulterated food products in the world, according to a study. Furthermore, a recent analysis by the Centre for Science and Environment discovered that the vast majority of honey samples collected from both large and small companies fail an advanced quality control test. It is critical at this time to inspect the honey we ingest. More than that, we must consume the proper honey. Here are seven types of raw honey to avoid if you want to avoid contaminated honey.
1. Eucalyptus Honey
Eucalyptus honey is a type of honey that is prepared from the nectar of eucalyptus blooms. Australia is the leading producer of eucalyptus honey. It has a distinct herbal flavour and a faint medicinal aroma. It is antimicrobial, a wonderful source of vitamins and minerals, and high in antioxidants.
2. Rapeseed Honey
Rapeseed honey, also known as Canola honey, is produced by honeybees pollinating high quantities of the rapeseed plant. It has a white or buttery-yellow appearance, a cabbage-like scent, and a slightly peppery flavour. It promotes wound and burn to heal, shortens the duration of diarrhoea, improves cold and cough symptoms, and is high in antioxidants.
3. Jamun Honey
Jamun Honey is produced by bees that predominantly feed and forage on Indian blackberries, also known as Jamun. It is picked in August, when the Jamun flowers bloom, in the south Karnataka region. It has a dark amber colour and is less sweet than other kinds of honey.
4. Acacia Honey
Acacia honey is made from the nectar of the black locust, sometimes known as the false acacia tree. It is generally much lighter in colour than traditional honey, seeming almost transparent. It has strong antioxidant and antibacterial effects, and it may help with wound healing and acne.
5. Multiflora Honey
Honeybees generate multiflora honey naturally when they feed on numerous blooms in the spring. It has a very lovely aromatic aroma, a creamy look, and a distinct flavour of floral nectar. Cough, cold, fever, throat infections, allergies, skin disorders, gum infections, high blood pressure, and diabetes can all be treated with it.
6. Sunflower Honey
During the winter, sunflower honey is gathered from sunflower fields in Nagpur, Maharashtra. It has a distinct brilliant yellow colour and is indicated for stomach-intestine problems, lung and renal ailments, and especially heart and blood vessel diseases.
