Kheer is one of the most widely made Punjabi desserts, not just in the state but also in almost every part of the country. Featuring a rich pudding made by simmering milk, rice, and sugar, kheer is known by different names in different parts of the country. Apart from having a rich flavour, its beauty lies in its utterly simple recipe, a handful of ingredients, and the refreshing feeling it brings.
Pethe Ka Halwa
Petha, kaddu, or pumpkin is a summer vegetable that keeps the body temperature lower. To make the most out of the vegetable, you can make an indulgent halwa. Senviya
Senviya is another Punjabi dessert that is made with vermicelli. To make senviya, you can start by boiling some milk mixed with sugar. Then, add vermicelli and cook till it gets soft. Next, you can add flavours like dry fruits, cardamom, rose water, etc. Before serving, you can chill the senviya and have a cool post-meal treat.
Mango Kulfi
The list of summer sweets would not be complete without kulfi, and that too with a hint of the summer fruit, mango. To make mango kulfi at home, you can take some ripe mangoes and blend them to get a consistent puree. You can then simmer it with thick milk mixed with sugar. Now, all you need to do is freeze it and enjoy.
