Aval Dosa

Have you tried dosa in which the main ingredients are curd, rice, and poha (flattened rice)? It is a popular dish in South India and is often consumed with coconut chutney or sambhar. You have to soak rice and poha in buttermilk for some time and blend them into a smooth paste. It requires fermentation, so you can leave it overnight. This breakfast recipe needs some beforehand preparation, but the aval dosa or rice-poha pancakes need only a few minutes to cook. This recipe is lightweight and wholesome at the same time.

Curd Sandwich

If you have no mayonnaise or chutneys at home, you can still make the best sandwiches, without compromising taste. Chop all your favourite vegetables and mix them with curd. Add salt to taste and spices like red chilli powder, black pepper powder, and chat masala. Spread this cold mixture on slices of bread and grill the sandwich or toast it in a hot pan with some butter. You can also temper the mixture with some butter, mustard seeds and red chilli powder to elevate the flavours of this creamy breakfast.

Dahi Paratha

Dahi paratha is a perfect addition to your breakfast recipes for days when you have only 15-20 minutes on hand to cook a wholesome meal. First, you will knead the dough with curd along with seasonings, including carom seeds (ajwain), red chilli powder, pinch of black pepper powder, and freshly chopped coriander and mint leaves. Not only will the spices elevate the flavour quotient but chopped greens add freshness to the recipe. Roll parathas and cook them on both sides with either butter or ghee until they turn brown and crispy. You can enjoy them with raita, chutney, or sauce.

Curd And Oats

One of the ways to consume oats is by cooking them with curd. Cook the oats and add curd once it has cooled down. Temper this mixture with oil, mustard seeds, curry leaves, green chillies, crushed red chillies, and a pinch of asafoetida. You can make this recipe wholesome by tossing in stir-fried finely chopped vegetables. Garnish it with fresh pomegranate seeds or freshly chopped coriander leaves and enjoy this wholesome dish.

Curd Rice

Curd rice is a popular South Indian dish that can be consumed throughout the day as it makes for a complete meal. Short rice grains are cooked in curd and tempered with coconut oil, green chillies, red chillies, mustard seeds, and curry leaves. It tastes yummy and can be topped with sauteed nuts and seeds to increase its nutritional value. 

Dahi Chuda (Dahi Poha)

Staple in Jharkhand and Bihar, dahi poha or dahi chuda recipe requires only 10 minutes of your busy schedule in the morning. You have to mix poha with curd along with some honey and a couple of tablespoons of milk. Top this mixture with fresh fruits and dry fruits for a hearty bowl of breakfast.
