The shaadi season is in full flow and it's the season where we are always surrounded by mouthwatering treats. They are simply irresistible, from the incredible gulab jamun with its chashni to the creamy jalebi-rabri, nothing gets better than this and that's why we all love shaadi season so much. But despite being an occasion of celebration, it shouldn't be the reason behind you going off track with your health and dietary goals which you have worked so hard on over the course of time.
It's understandable that it's hard to resist all those desserts, creamy dishes, and drinks but these tips will help you eat healthily and make sure you don't go overboard with food during this shaadi season.
Consume Probiotics
The wedding season is notorious for its glut of fried, sweet, and fatty meals, along with late-night feasts, which can often lead to indigestion. As a result, adding probiotics can help to avoid bloating and improve digestion. These include things like handmade pickles, raita, curd, buttermilk, and fermented meals like dosa and idli.
Practice Mindfulness
Preparation is the key to eating wisely during the wedding season. Schedule every meal of the day around the wedding events. Eat a light dinner, for example, if you are attending a lunch ceremony, or vice versa. This will help you consume fewer calories overall and give your digestive system a break.
Eating a little meal prior to leaving for the wedding is also a smart idea. This will prevent you from going overboard when the wedding cuisine is served.
Exercise Portion Control
Use a small quarter plate at parties or when hosting a buffet so that you may better regulate the quantity. Hence, it aids in portion management even if you visit the buffet two or three times. This allows you to enjoy all the foods that are served at the buffet without missing out on many but also making sure at the same time that you are not overindulging.
Let Others Enjoy The Desserts
It's best to decide what you want to eat because we know our minds go awry when we see so many different dessert options. Top your plate with sweetened tea or coffee and fresh fruit. This has a tremendous potential to reduce sugar cravings.
If it's something that you really have to try then eat just a bite to get a taste of it.
Avoid Alcohol
While it can be challenging to abstain from alcohol during weddings, doing so makes you feel like you need to eat more. Therefore, it makes sense to limit your alcohol intake to a few drinks throughout any wedding celebration.
Rather, consume one glass of water or more per hour. If you are going out and drinking, it is advised that you limit your intake of clear spirits to no more than two to three drinks with water in order to keep your calorie intake in check.
