Are you committed to a healthy lifestyle and following a keto diet to lose weight? But do you find it difficult to resist Indian staples like roti or paratha? Don't worry, we have the perfect solution for you! Introducing keto atta, specially designed to create authentic Indian delicacies while keeping your carb intake low.

The ketogenic diet encourages the body to enter a state of ketosis by reducing carbohydrate intake and increasing fat consumption. Thus, by reducing carbohydrate intake and increasing fat consumption, the body transforms glucose into ketones, which are produced from stored fat. This metabolic shift offers multiple health benefits, like weight loss, improved mental focus, and increased energy levels.

Keto atta is a grain-based atta made mostly from peanuts, flaxseed, chia seed, almonds, whey protein isolate, sesame seed, coconut flour, coconut powder, watermelon seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, xanthum gum, and pink salt.

Xanthum Gum, a protein powder, is added to increase the shelf life of Keto atta. It also makes it thick and creamy without changing the consistency or texture. On the other hand, Whey protein isolate is added as it is a convenient and easy way to increase protein intake, especially for those who may struggle to get enough protein from whole food sources.

Its total net carbs are 80% less than those of all-purpose wheat flour. The rotis made from this flour are packed with nutrition and can be enjoyed with keto-friendly vegetable dishes like palak tofu, mushroom masala, paneer butter masala, and others.

Difference Between Keto Atta And Wheat Atta

The Keto diet focuses on reducing carbohydrate intake; however, many find it challenging to eliminate Indian staples like roti and paratha which contains large quantities of carbohydrates from their diet. Keto atta can come to the rescue by allowing you to have flatbreads like roti, while not having to worry about the carbohydrate content or the gluten quotient while helping you follow the keto diet diligently.

Health Benefits Of Keto Atta

  • Low In Carbohydrates

Keto atta contains minimal carbohydrates as compared to traditional atta. Thus, it makes it suitable for those following a low-carb or keto diet.

  • Controls Blood Sugar Levels

Keto Atta has a lower glycemic index (GI) than regular wheat flour. Keto atta helps with a gradual and slower rise in blood sugar levels after consumption. This helps prevent spikes in blood sugar, which is important for diabetics.

  • High In Healthy Fats

Almond flour, which is the main ingredient in keto atta, is loaded with healthy fats like monounsaturated fats and omega-3 fatty acids. These fats lead to improved heart health and provide a sustained source of energy.

  • Rich In Fibre

Keto flour contains coconut flour and psyllium husk, which are excellent sources of dietary fibre. High-diet fibre helps with digestion, promotes satiety, and helps maintain stable blood sugar levels.

  • Gluten-free

For those who are gluten-sensitive or have celiac disease, keto atta offers a gluten-free alternative to traditional atta.

How To Make Keto Atta Roti At Home?

Take a look at how to make keto atta at home with keto-friendly ingredients:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of almonds
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin seeds
  • 1/4 cup linseed (flaxseed)
  • 1/4 cup chia seeds
  • 1/4 cup psyllium husk powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (optional)

Method

  • In a food processor, grind the almonds, pumpkin seeds, linseed, and chia seeds together until they form a fine powder-like consistency. Be careful not to over-grind, as they may release oil and make the paste sticky.
  • Transfer the mixture to a mixing bowl and add psyllium husk powder and salt. Mix them well.
  • Slowly add warm water to the mixture and keep kneading with your hands. Begin with ¼ cup of warm water and gradually add more as needed.
  • Once the dough is well-formed, cover it with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15–20 minutes. The psyllium husk, meanwhile, absorbs the moisture and binds the dough.
  • Next, divide the dough into small portions and make small balls out of them.
  • Place a ball of dough on a clean surface dusted with almond flour. Use a rolling pin to roll out the dough into a round, thin circle, similar to a chapati or roti.
  • Enjoy keto roti with keto-friendly vegetables.
